Keyboard Problem A, E, X, 3, 4

I've a problem with the keyboard in my Vaio VPCEB2Z1E/BQ. I noticed that after a couple hours of working some buttons (for example a, e, x, 3, 4) stop working. After a while they start working again but the problem reappears soon. Any idea what might be causing the problem?

I have a keyboard problem on my laptop. when I type I get a repeating key. This seems to be intermittant but mostly happpens with my p key especially when I type the word "type" it comes out as "typpe"

Is this a driver or hardware problem?

This is a brand new laptop straight out of the factory as I havent had much chance to install my software on it yet.

i have upgraded to windows 8 a while ago but as shown in the attatched image still facing some unidentified hardware i have looked to all the drivers that Sony support and all around the internet,but non of these fix the shown and highlighted unidentified hardware.

Write protection on all USB drives

Hi everyone,

Since I received my new Sony Vaio SVE1711C5E I have been unable to write to USB drives.

All of my other machines work with all of these USB's but my new laptop gets the message "disk write protecte- remove write protection".

I have narrowed it down to being the laptop which is at fault and I can't for the life of me work out how to fix it.

I am very competent when it comes to using a computer so I have tried more than the basic few steps.

If anybody else has experienced this or knows how I could fix it I will appreciate it greatly!

Pioneer BD-ROM BDC-TD03 problem

My Vaio is displaying an error in Hardware Devices with the internal Pioneer BD-ROM BDC-TD03

It says the correct driver is already installed

When I click on properties it displays the following info

General :

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Also when i connect my USB external DVD drive i get an error in CD/DVD settings in Device Manager

The external DVD drive works fine on my desktop PC

I had this problem before & a kind gentleman on a forum told me to delete some reg setting but i cant remember how

Vaio Care updating ???

I don't appear to get updates, every time I go into Vaio Care it says there is an update. I can start the process and it goes through to the Windows installer popup which opens, runs and disappears after a while, but there is no update ?

I am currently running version 7.3.1.05290.

I also get a file missing error when the laptop is started up, see the attachment.

I'm running Windows 7 Home premium with SP1.

yes its that subject again your keen to avoid!

firstly why is it that Serviio has stated that .srt subtitles is supported (by Serviio) yet Sony are the only ones that dont have the appropiate profile to display it?,

secondly since i have not used Serviio (yet) i can play my media via DLNA using Windows Media Player, now heres the thing, if i play on my computer media player will play subtitles using DirectVobSub no problem, however if i stream using my BDP-S570 although Windows Media Player shows up in XMB when playing through this the subtitles are not there!,

how can we get the appropiate profile for our Sony Hardware to display .SRT

surely something like DirectVobSub which is only 2.10mb big or something similar can be installed via firmware update to solve all this?

we await your thoughts.

I use this notebook (VPCEH2D1E or pcg-71811m) for office and I have some softwares that are incompatible with x64. I've installed windows seven x86 but I have problems finding drivers for this model. On sony support site almost all drivers are for x64 version. Do you think I can find what I need?

Clouding on W805 bottom corners

Xperia Tablet Z

Can anyone help please? I've been round and round the Sony site looking for the full manual for my shiny new Xperia Tablet Z. No matter what form I enter the model number or name I get zero results. Maybe Sony have marketed the Z before any manuals have been produced! I've even tried to download the Xperia Table S thinking there migh be similarities but because I don't have a valid model number I come up against a wall. Help please, this is so very frustrating!!

Bravia 32" KDL32EX43BU built in Blue Ray player unrepairable??

I would appreciate some advice from those among you who might have had a similar experience to mine?

In 2011 I paid £649 for a Bravia 32" with blue Ray in built player,plus 5 yr Guarantee/warranty.

Although having very little use,5 weeks ago the Blue Ray DVD player stopped working.Sony were contacted and removed TV for repair replacing it with 2nd hand Panasonic lacking DVD player.(not to happy over that)

WE were told at the time that Sony repair turnover was a max of 14days...after three weeks no-one had contacted us so we started chasing,only to discover that Sony had informed the branch that our Blue Ray Dvd player is unrepairable as parts are not available,equally Sony have stopped Production of the Bravia with in built Blue Ray shortly after our purchase, due,they say,to being unable to give customer choice over Blue Ray DVd in built into Bravia TV.

After four weeks we were eventually contacted by the manager of our local branch to discuss the situation who made it very plain(over the phone) it was impossible to replace what we had originally purchased,plus we were in a totally unique situation within Sony as it had never happened before, where the item could not be repaired or replaced,.and that at present no other customers were effected?

We understand the impossible cannot be granted if the model is no longer available and fully accept that...however what we do not accept,especially with our 5yr Guarantee is Sonys answer to the problem.

They want us to accept our original TV back with a free standing Blue Ray DVD player!

My objection to this is, that it is not the package that I initially purchased,plus what good is my original set if the DVD is broken.yes I can view DVDs through a free standing box,but when the time comes to move the set on, who will be interested,as psychologically from a buyers point of view if one part is broken whats to say the other is not effected?

As SONY admit, it is a unique situation: I would like them as a good will gesture if nothing else,to give us a credit note against what we origianlly spent, allowing us to start afresh in store....after all we did not break the unit,equally it is not our fault or that of our local branch if Sony are unable to repair or offer a replacement within the terms of the guarante/warranty.

I would be grateful for other Forum members views and comments,plus how they would react in the same situation. Thankyou.

So my question is:

Are there many people actually buying these and using them regularly when swimming? I am really tempted to hit the buy button because I am in the pool at least a couple of times a week and in theory the idea sounds great and really appeals to me. So anyone using them?

OK, I have given up trying to get the TV program working on my older Sony Vaio desk top (running XP) It was easy before digital, I could just plug the aerial in and there it was.

I have a newer Sony Vaio all in one desktop VPCJ1 running windows 7 64bit. No TV card only usb ports. Does anyone know if it is possible and if so how how I could watch and record TV on this computer. What extras would I need and which software. Any suggestions accepted.

Hi,i have a vgn-b3vp and have done a complete re-install.Problem is i can not get the volume to work.Which driver do i need?

Also i want to dual install a Linux live cd/dvd but it will not boot from the disc!!!

What to do?Hit it with a hammer?Or hope some nice person here can help me out

NEX 5RL failing to update

Hello, I'm having trouble updating my newly bought NEX 5RL from firmware 1.00 to 1.01. I'm going through the process but can't get past the 'camera resets' phase, it keeps freezing. Nothing happens when I press OK, I have to take the battery out to restart the camera and use the Task Manager on my PC to shut down the update program. Any help would be appreciated, Cheers, Mark.

I have this notebook and I upgraded the bios to R0190Y9 with the sony upgrade tool. All went excellent. After that my cpu runs on 1.19 Ghz on battery and it never speed up like when it's on ac power. If I connect the ac power it speeds up on 2.70 + Ghz with no problem. I updated the drivers. In vaio care or in vaio control there isn't any setting to change. Is there a new bios to update or a edited version that fixes that?

Cursor moves while typing text

Hi,

I have a Sony VAIO vgn-NS11J and this problem is driving me nuts.

While typing text the cursor will sometimes jump back into previously typed text.

This is annoying as I cannot type while looking at the screen. (I have to look at the keys)

then discover that I have been typing in the wrong place and have to correct it.(It did it twice while doing this note.)

Anybody have any ideas on this annoying problem.

I am not touching the mousepad or touching any other key other than the one I want.

This laptop originally had vista installed now has windows 7 pro.

- SATA port operation mode: AHCI/IDE/RAID
- ENABLE/DISABLE: Programmable TDC/TDP Limits
- CPU/DRAM/PCI/PIC-E tweaking options (bus speed / timing)
- ENABLE/DISABLE: Wireless Adapter / WiFi (WIRELESS green led is always on)
- Change Boot key from F11 to F8, make an option to choos from boot devices
now if I have two USB drives I can choose only the one to boot from
- CPU core enabled (nr.) (here you can disable CPU cores)

The three USB port is very close to each other, so I have no chanche to insert
3 USB devices without a trick. In future you can leave more space between USB
ports, or you can put USB port to right and left side too.

BluRay player streams from PC but TV fails...

Hi,

i recently bought a KDL-47W805A and BDV-E4100 - both the TV and BluRay player can play MKV files saved on my PC wirelessly, thanks to Homestream, but while the TV fails a few seconds/minutes into the video, the BluRay player has no problems playing it at all.

it's the same file from the same computer and both the TV and BluRay player were set up in the same way. the error message from the TV is "cannot connect to server" or something, but then the BluRay player will connect to it just fine.

i'd rather play the file through the TV since the menus are much nicer to navigate.

any idea what the problem might be?

I have an xperia T and a bravia smart tv but cant use the screen mirroring function. I can throw pictures, videos and music from the phone to the tv which is cool but the actual screen mirroring function on the phone can't pick up any devices. DVD Driver corrupted - SVE1512B1EW

I have a laptop and the cd's wont operate, is fully operational but the driver says that it is corrupt, I have tried to restore to an earlier point when i know it was running fine, but with no joy, i have uninstalled the corruted driver, and restarted as was told that a replacement would be generated automatically, but a corrupted driver reappears.

Does anyone know if any solution to this problem, I am not very IT capable so full idiot instructions would be helpful.

Remote firing of NEX6 bracketed shots

Is there any way at all to shoot a set of bracketed shots using either an IR remote or self-timer or Playmemories mobile?

There appears not to be, and this is a huge oversight, there appears no way to be able to take a set of bracketed shots without a high risk of introducing camera shake, because you have to hold the shutter relase for the whole set of exposures.

I even bought the Bracket Pro app, but even this won't let you fire off the shots remotely either.

Please Sony fix this in either firmware (preferable) or within the Bracket Pro App (pretty easily, I would imagine, just add a option for a 2 or 10 second delay after pressing the shutter to allow the camera to settle)

Also is there any way of introducing some more functionality into the Play Memories mobile apps on smartphones? I would happily pay for an app with much more remote control features, comprehensive bracketing and intervalometer functions.

The NEX6 is a great camera and it's a real shame it is being let down by badly implemented software and firmware.

Sony Vaio Duo 11 digitizer pen issues

Hi, I have a Duo 11 and a) my digitizer pen doesnt register at all any clicks of,the buttons and b) to use it I have to press it hard in order to write down or click something. A week ago it used to be more sensitive. Now I get tired by the pressure I put to write with the pen. I tried to reinstall the drivers through Assist but there are no pen and touch drivers anywhere - including the support site.

Any ideas?

Brand new Sony Vaio Laptop screen broken internally!?

I have bought a Sony Vaio Laptop (model VPCEH1L8E/B) from PC World online website on the 31^st October 2011 for the amount of £479. On the 28^th December, I finished working on the laptop, shut it down and closed the lid. I woke up the next morning, switched on the laptop and the screen was blurred with white, green and blue lights showing a clear issue with the screen.

I called Sony support who got the repair centre (operated by Flextronics) to pick up my Laptop. The next day, the repair centre called me to say that the cost of fixing the laptop is £355 (!?) and that if I need it to be sent back to me without fixing, I have to pay £65 to get it back on fixed. The repair centre claims that there is internal breakage inside the laptop screen and despite the fact that there are no external cracks, dents or breakage on the outside of the screen, the centre is claiming that I should pay for the repairs costs.

When I spoke to technical support they said it could be that someone have applied a very small amount of pressure on the screen and this is enough to crack the screen internally!!! and it means you have to pay for fixing it! No one applied any pressure on the laptop but even if this happened, how can Sony Vaio laptops be so fragile that if the slightest pressure is applied to the screen it breaks it internally (without any signs of external damage or dents)?!?!

According the Sales of Goods Act 1979, products need to be in good condition and continue to be in good condition for a reasonable time. Since I have only had this laptop for less than 2 months and the fault in the laptop and I have not damaged the product in any way especially that there are no external damage or cracks on the screen, I hereby give you notice to repair the laptop, replace it or refund back the amount of £479 by the 21^st January 2012.

Unfortunately, if the response I will get from you is similar to the response I got so far, I will be left with no choice other than: 1) taking the matter to court and I mean it, 2) speaking extensively to the media about the shameful aftersales support and service I got so far and finally 3) writing an official complaint to the industry regulator asking to apply penalties for the unacceptable customer service and product support you provided (or have not provided) in addition to the very bad quality of Sonvy Vaio laptops.

I am very disappointed in Sony Vaio Laptops, their customer service and Sony in general.
