Latest Response

Thank you for your most recent e-mail.

In regards to this matter I can advise you that I will escalate this matter to Sony's technical team and should a firmware update become available to resolve this issue, this will be found on the products model page as found in the link below.

http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/BDP-S380

My apologies that I can not be of immediate help regarding this matter, however hopefully a resolution to this issue will become available in the near future.

Thank you for your enquiry.

Yours sincerely

Richard Clarke
Customer Information Centre
SONY UNITED KINGDOM

My Reply

I'm not going to lie Richard, but to be honest I find that completely unacceptable. The almost flippant nature you've dealt with this query is nothing short of disregard fro customer service. I paid £100 for the player but had it just been me that was experiencing difficulties I'd understand but the very fact that I've drawn your attention to several other cases should be more of a cause to do something about it.

I find it quite infuriating that priority for firmware updates tends to only be with the PS3 the last update being February 16th 2012, when the last update for standard players was on the 30th of November 2011. I can't imagine why this would be the case.

This is a matter that needs to be resolved quicker than you're proposing as when it boils down to it, Sony has taken my money for what is a essentially a defective product.

I would hope that you'd perhaps taken an active interest in any customer who's provided you with their hard earned.

If the matter is not resolved soon I do feel that it'd only be reasonable if I took this further.

Thank you

Have S-380 and this is happening with my copy of Fright Night which I bought yesterday as well. This isn't the first time something has happened with a disc. Kill List is prone to judder.

I find it hard to believe that this kind of problem occurs, Blu Ray is supposed to be the next step up in Viewing format and I mean it's not as if Blu Rays have only be around for a year. This kind of problem is nothing short of laziness and favouritism with other hardware (Namely the Ps3)

A friend of mine recently bought A PS3 because he was experiencing problems with playback on some Blu-Rays he's yet to have any problems.

I think the fact that the PS3 is working just goes to show that a similar constant firmware update system should be implemented on all Blu-Ray players also.

Please keep me informed as to the situation.
