Hello,

I recently went to update my NVidia GeForce GT330M driver as I saw it was outdated. I tried auto detect your GPU but it said 'Your product manufacturer requires you to download a driver from their website'. I then tried the

Manual download of it but the setup program said no compatible GPU detected.

I have the latest updates available for my system (I checked all of that and updated everything that I hadn't), and VAIO update doesn't have any updates on it at the moment.

I was wondering if anyone knew how to get this to work as there is no driver as far as I can see on the website for my model that I haven't downloaded, but the NVidia GeForce company say I need to download one, so does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks,

Anthony

    Hi Anthony and welcome.

Apart from a few exceptions, nVidia do not support mobile GPU Drivers.

    .

As you own a Z-Series Vaio, you need a Hybrid nVidia/Intel Graphics driver.  The software to enable you to switch from Speed to Stamina Graphics Mode requires a Sony specific hybrid driver and so the nVidia drivers will not work as intended.

All you can do is to contact Vaio Support and tell them exactly why the existing driver is not functioning properly and ask them to update the drivers.  The more users that report a genuine problem with the existing driver, the more likely it will be updated.  Don't just tell them that there is a newer driver - you must be having a problem that can be replicated.  Just keeping up with the Joneses is not likely to help.

Actually, you can install an updated nVidia driver but you will have to modify the installer .INF file to allow it to install.  However, if you do this the switchable graphics will not work.

Your decision - if you want to learn more about modified .INF files, read the Quickstart Guide here: -
