Excellent at first but they don't last

Like many others, I only write reviews when I am very happy with a product or extremely unhappy, sadly this is the latter. I purchased my WH-1000XM4 having read numerous reviews on how good the WH-1000XM4 are. Undeniably the sound quality and noise cancellation are superb. I mainly use the headphones in the office, commuting and on long haul travel, the WH-1000XM4 were ideal for this. So why the one-star review when other reviews rave about these headphones, and they win so many awards? Simple, they don't last. All the reviews and comparisons are with new headphones. After about a year and a half (outside the warranty period) the headphones developed a fault, they wouldn't reliably charge, the battery level would get stuck at 10% and when plugged in to charge the charging wouldn't activate. After a few months of struggling with this I decided to get them repaired at Sony. Having sent them in I was informed that the part required to correct this problem wasn't available, however, I could purchase a replacement pair at a discount, which I did. I have since discovered that the charging issue is a common problem, a quick internet search for "Sony WH-1000MX4 Not Charging" will bring up numerous blogs and articles describing exactly the same issue, generally after about 15 to 18 months, there are various button pressing resets that are suggested and these work for a while. But this is a fundamental flaw. For a "premium" product the components are just not adequate, and Sony does not appear to be able to source replacements. I would strongly urge anyone considering purchasing these to research how many of the glowing reviewers are still happy with the WH-1000XM4 after 18 months. If the discounted replacement pair worked, I wouldn't have written this review either but sadly after six months and very little use, this pair stopped working. Having been informed by Sony Customer Support that the replacement pair came with a 12-month warranty I wasn't too concerned. However, the Sony Customer Support have been nothing short of utterly woeful in resolving this. I have never had such a poor response from a major brand. I've purchased numerous Sony products over the past 30 years, from Walkmans, TVs, stereos and probably every model of Playstation and I have never once needed to contact customer support. After my recent experience with Sony Customer Support, the WH-1000XM4 will be my last purchase from Sony.

Speak to chat is useless, it gets triggered too easy, My headphones have very common issue with wheezing sound, can be eliminated if I switch off anc but that setting can't be saved.

J'ai ce casque depuis 2 ans maintenant et j'en suis pleinement satisfait ! La qualité du son est incroyable surtout pour les basses, l'autonomie est longue (idéal pour les voyages courts ou longs) et la réduction de bruit est parfaite pour les lieux publics. En plus de ça, le casque est peu encombrant ! Très très bon rapport qualité-prix.

Ik heb deze als vervanging van mijn versleten XM3 gekocht maar ben uitermate teleurgesteld, VPT wordt niet meer ondersteund door Sony. Hierdoor zal ik mijn XM4 retourneren, ik zie dat het ook niet beschikbaar is voor andere Sony XM koptelefoons. VPT was 50% van het luisterplezier. 2 sterren omdat de kwaliteit verder prima is. Ik zal een ander merk koptelefoon proberen

Premetto che sono le prime cuffie con annullamento rumore che acquisto, dopo essermi documentato sul web ho ricevuto ulteriori informazioni da parte di un amico “esperto” il quale mi ha confermato che Sony è al primo posto per questa tipologia di apparecchiature. Inoltre senza voler avere l’ultimo modello si potevano trovare delle buone occasioni con quelli precedenti e così è stato. Trovate ad un ottimo prezzo presso una catena conosciuta con in regalo estensione della garanzia a 3 anni. Sono circa 10 giorni che le uso e sono soddisfatto, ammetto che devo ancora impratichirmi con i vari settaggi possibili tramite APP ; ora sono curioso di testarle durante il mio prossimo viaggio aereo.

Enkele keren de WH-1000XM3 geleend en snel besloten er zelf ook 1 te kopen. De XM4 is nog beter! De bediening op de oorschelp werkt geweldig, het automatisch muziek pauzeren bij bellen en afzetten is heel handig. Comfort is top en de noise cancelling laat je vergeten dat er omgevingsgeluid bestaat. De lange batterijduur maakt het helemaal af. Meer dan tevreden!

The noise cancelling is excellent, the fit is comfortable and the sound quality is very good. The only problem is the auto shut off feature which is very inconsistent and will turn off the headphones while they are still in use but is thankfully optional.

The sound is pretty good however the mic doesn’t connect to my laptop which is pretty useless. Great headset purely if you want to listen to music but really not good for work. Also no way to mute/unmute yourself.

J'ai acheté ce produit depuis 15 jours et j'en suis très satisfait. Je l'utilise uniquement chez moi, le soir pour ne pas perturber le sommeil de mon épouse. Belle qualité sonore à faible volume, avec une musicalité claire et précise, il est pratique d'utilisation avec ses réglages de volume, de pause, d'avance et de retour rapide par simple effleurement sur l'orreillette droite. J'ai pu régler le son très simplement avec son application sur Android pour correspondre à mon écoute. Je recommande ce produit l'orreillette droite, l'écoute à partir de l'application Quobuz très agréable.

Après plusieurs semaines d'utilisation quotidienne, le constat est simple : ce casque est une référence absolue. Malgré l'arrivée de modèles plus récents, le XM4 reste pour moi le meilleur rapport qualité-prix du marché. Ce que j'ai adoré : • Réduction de bruit (ANC) bluffante : Que ce soit dans l'avion, le train ou un open-space bruyant, on est littéralement dans une bulle de silence. C’est impressionnant d'efficacité. • Confort au top : Il est léger et les coussinets sont très souples. Je peux le porter 4h d'affilée sans ressentir de pression sur le haut du crâne. • Connexion Multipoint : La possibilité d'être connecté simultanément à mon téléphone et mon PC est un vrai changement de vie. Le passage de l'un à l'autre est fluide. • Autonomie solide : Environ 30 heures de batterie, ce qui permet de tenir une semaine de trajets sans stresser pour la recharge. Le petit plus : Le design pliable ! Contrairement au XM5, celui-ci se replie totalement, ce qui le rend beaucoup plus facile à glisser dans un sac à dos encombré.

J'ai acheté ce casque après avoir fait beaucoup de recherches sur des sites de comparaison. Et ce modèle-là en particulier car déjà relativement ancien, donc un peu moins cher, mais toujours à la page. Je ne suis absolument pas déçu. Très confortable, une qualité audio remarquable et une réduction de bruit parfaite. En plus, il est pliable, ce qui facilite le rangement. Je le recommande vivement, si les stocks ne sont pas vides, même s'il faut un certain budget.

I got the WH-1000XM4 noise cancelling headphones and they are like heaven for your ears. I am autistic and have ADHD and the noise cancelling feature is fantastic. I love that I can use them to shut the world out or listen to music (or both) they are honestly well worth the money. Sound is fantastic too! Love all the features, truly amazing!
